Denying a family that doesn’t qualify for free or reduced price benefits.

Q. What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?

Serving on the national School Nutrition Association board of directors in two different roles: Midwest Regional Director and Education Committee Chair. What a great ride!

On a personal note, catering a wedding 600 miles away and actually following through on it.

Q. If you weren't in foodservice what would you be doing?

Teaching.

Q. If you had a time machine what historical event or era would you visit?

I love history. It would have to be the years before, during and right after we became the United States of America.

Q. Which talent would you most like to have?

The ability to sing—my brothers always teased me about not being able to sing.

Q. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I would have gone to college at a younger age rather than waiting until now to complete my degree.

My husband of 33 years—after all, he’s put up with me for this long.

Q. What would be your dream vacation?

Two weeks on an Alaskan cruise.

Spaghetti with garlic toast and cream puffs for dessert.

Q. If you could eat dinner with anyone living or dead, who would it be?

My parents, just one more time.

Q. What is your guilty pleasure?

A hot stone massage.

Q. What will people always find in your refrigerator?

Butter.

Q. What is your most treasured possession?

It’s a tie—a grandfather clock and rolltop desk, both built by my dad.

Q. What food fad do you wish had never started?

Diets that do not have any real science behind them.

Q. What activity is at the top of your bucket list?

To tour all of the historical areas in the country and taking time to see everything that paved the way for all of us.

Q. What is the weirdest food you have ever eaten?

Peanut butter/Instant Mashed Potato Sandwich—it’s not bad, either.

Q. Are you a morning or evening person?

Morning, but only if I’ve had my coffee first.

Q. What are your words to live by?

Honesty will get you anywhere. Stay away from anything less.
