Q. What is the best part of your job?

The people: those I work with, those I serve and my industry colleagues.

Q. What is the worst part of your job?

It is 24/7/365.

Q. What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?

Earlier in life, memorizing Chopin’s piano concertos.

Q. What is the most unusual foodservice/catering request you have ever received?

A wedding where the groom entered the reception hall on horseback.

Q. If you weren't in foodservice what would you be doing?

I would be a medical doctor who moonlights as a concert pianist.

Q. If you had a time machine what historical event or era would you visit?

I would visit Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello in early America.

Q. Which talent would you most like to have?

To be able to sing as a mezzo-soprano.

Q. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

To be able to not think constantly.

Q. Which living person do you most admire?

Stephen Hawking.

Q. What would be your dream vacation?

To visit Scotland as my first stop traveling around the world.

Q. What is your favorite meal?

Anything served at The French Laundry.

Q. If you could eat dinner with anyone living or dead, who would it be?

Benjamin Franklin.

Q. What is your guilty pleasure?

Morel mushrooms, battered and pan-fried in butter.

Q. What will people always find in your refrigerator?

Blue cheese in olive oil, peppadew, pommery mustard and grappa.

Q. What is your most treasured possession?

A portrait of my grandmother, who raised me.

Q. What food fad do you wish had never started?

Deep-fried candy bars.

Q. What activity is at the top of your bucket list?

To walk El Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James, in Spain).

Q. What is the weirdest food you have ever eaten?

A smoked pig eyeball. It was a dare by our administrative dietitian.

Q. Are you a morning or evening person?

A learned morning person.

Q. What are your words to live by?

All work is honorable.
