The Urban School Food Alliance has partnered with No Kid Hungry and the Rockefeller Foundation to launch the Student Emergency Food Access Fund, which will provide financial aid for school meals to each of the 12 districts that make up the Alliance.
Funds from the program will go toward things such as transportation equipment used to deliver meals safely to students and families, safety and staff support, and the meals themselves.
The Alliance anticipates school districts across the country will suffer a total loss of $38.9 million per week due to the extra costs that come with operating during the pandemic.
