Trump administration releases plan to reorganize some USDA programs

The Trump administration has released a plan that would move certain programs currently overseen by the Department of Agriculture to the purview of other government agencies, Agri-Pulse reports.

Under the new plan, nutrition programs such as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) would be moved to the Department of Health and Human Services, while the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program, among others, would remain under the USDA. The government’s food safety entities would also be consolidated into a new Federal Food Safety Agency.
