Students blast C&U lapses on public gripes page

A Facebook complaints page set up by the student government of Duke University has been averaging two postings a week about mislabeled foods being sold in on-campus foodservice and retailing opertions, according to the school's newspaper.

The frequency of the gripes have increased since last year, according to an administrator of the page, Fix My Campus, but not necessarily because of an increase in the misidentification of ingredients. Rather, Courtney Scoufis told The Chronicle, students are merely speaking out more readily because correct labeling has become a higher priority.

The paper cited such examples as goat cheese being included in packaged items labeled as vegan.

The purpose of the Fix My Campus page is to provide a forum where students can air issues and concerns about their campuses. The situations are then brought to the attention of the school and its vendors.
