Sodexo is bringing texting into its K-12 dining operations, with Elder High School in Cincinnati becoming the first high school in the country to use the company’s text-based communication app, the foodservice vendor says.
Called MyDtxt, the app is excusive to Sodexo and allows users to receive alerts via text messages about menu specials, pickup reminders and promotional items. Students will also be able to use the app to vote for their favorite menu items and send feedback to dining staff.
Dining-specific apps have become close to commonplace in college dining programs as a way for students to check dining hall crowding and access nutritional information, among other things, but K-12 is catching on to the app craze as well.
While the Sodexo app is being used at colleges around the country, this will be the first time a high school has implemented it.
