School district uses leftover lunch money to tackle meal debt

Atlanta Public Schools is allowing parents to donate leftover money on their school meal accounts to pay off other students’ meal debt, WSB-TV reports. 

While the district will begin serving free breakfast and lunch to all students this school year through the Community Eligibility Provision, it still has leftover debt from last school year. 

Parents with leftover funds from last year can either donate them to the nutrition department or receive a refund.
