Salad bars boost healthy eating, study says

Salad bars are the best way to get students to eat their fruits and vegetables, according to a recent Pew Charitable Trusts study.

Researchers found that 64% of students ate more produce when offered a salad bar, while 33.9% ate the same amount. Only 1% ate less.

Along with salad bars, the study showed that offering fruit and vegetable samples at lunch and starting school gardens were also beneficial ways to encourage students to eat healthy.
