New York City Public Schools is shutting down all in-person learning starting Thursday after the city’s 7-day COVID-19 positivity rate reached 3%, NBC reports.
No date was given as to when students would be able to return. The school district, which is the country's largest, announced on social media that it will be providing free grab-and-go meals to all students.
NYC Public Schools was the first major school district to return to in-person learning earlier this school year. Other large districts such as Chicago Public Schools and Los Angeles Unified have not yet brought back students for in-person learning.
