A New Jersey lawmaker has introduced a bill that would offer a 10-cent state reimbursement rate for school breakfast to certain districts in the state.
Under S2322, the state’s Department of Agriculture would be required to provide a 10-cent reimbursement for every breakfast served in districts that offer a Breakfast After the Bell Program and where at least 20% of the student body qualifies for free or reduced-price meals.
The 10-cent reimbursement would be in addition to the existing federal reimbursement that schools already receive if they participate in the School Breakfast Program.
