A new dining option at Michigan State University spotlights the unique history of the building it’s in alongside more modern touches such as self-checkout technology and a variety of plant-based options.
The Workshop, located in the STEM Teaching and Learning Facility on the East Lansing, Mich., campus, is decorated to reflect a focus on math and science, while the building at large—a converted power plant—contains a four-story boiler, steam valves and other design elements as a nod to its past.
“Seeing so many departments across campus come together to make The Workshop exceptional for our customers is remarkable,” Operations Manager Madison Young said in a statement. “It has truly been a joint effort, and I appreciate everyone’s dedication to readying the space.”
Grain bowls, paninis, breakfast sandwiches and more are also on offer at the concept.
