Grab-and-go breakfast boosts district’s participation by 30 percent

Since implementing a grab-and-go option this school year, Loudoun County Public Schools in Ashburn, Va., has seen a 30 percent increase in student breakfast participation.

Students in the district have embraced the concept, particularly at Frederick Douglass Elementary, where participation has increased 117 percent, reports wjla.com.

Officials say providing breakfast outside of the cafeteria lets students eat without fear of being late to class.

“It just creates a relaxed start to the day where they can focus and not be stressed,” Frederick Douglass’s principal, Paula Huffman, told the website.
