The NRA's Educational Foundation has named Boston College a 2003 Employer of Choice, and will present the award--along with five others--at the NRA Show in Chicago.
Foodservice at Boston College, located in Chestnut Hill, MA, is self-operated. Director of dining services Pat Bando oversees an operation with more than $26 million in revenue and 10,000 students on board plans. New operations include the Hillside Cafe, which is serving 2,500 people daily (see Feb. 15, 2003, FSD, p. 1).
BC wins the award for the "on-site" (non-commercial) category.
Other winners of the Employee of Choice Award are:
--Quickservice: Al's Roxy Delicatessen, Philadelphia.
--Fullservice/Casual: Bertucci's Brick Oven Pizza, Northborough, MA
--Fullservice/Family: Bob Evans Farms, Columbus, OH.
--Fine Dining: The Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group, New Orleans.
--Specialty: Harrah's Entertainment, Las Vegas.
Entries in the competition are judged on Human Resources, Training and Education, and Foodservice Operations. The winners will be honored at a breakfast on Monday, May 19, at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago.
