For all the press about schools starting gardens on their campuses, very few schools actually have an on-site garden/farm and even fewer foodservice departments are responsible for such plots. Nearly a quarter of child nutrition directors (24%), however, hope to start a garden/farm on their campus in the next two years. The highest percentage of respondents, at 43%, say they don’t have a garden/farm and have no plans to start one.
