Bend-La Pine Schools in Bend, Ore., will be serving scratch-made chicken noodle soup made using carrots from a local farm in honor of National Farm-to-School Month, KTVZ reports.
The soup will be prepared at the district’s production kitchen and then served at all of its 19 meal sites next Monday.
Other districts throughout the country are also putting a spotlight on local ingredients for National Farm-to-School Month. Groton Public Schools in Mystic, Conn., for example, held a virtual farm-to-school community dinner earlier this month to celebrate.
