College students concerned about dining prices

Although Umpqua Community College students say they are satisfied with the food served in the campus’ new Loggers Café, the same can’t be said about menu pricing, reports mainstreamonline.com.

UCC students have expressed concerns that prices are inconsistent and not clearly displayed. If they are, according to the student-run website, the charges are beyond their means.

Sam Gross, the owner of Loggers Tap House restaurant—which won the bid at the start of the school year to run UCC’s cafeteria—told Mainstream Online that he made a “conscious effort” to keep food prices low to meet students’ budgets.

“Prices are similar to a lot of items available last year. That being said, we are continuing to evaluate sales and see where we can make changes. We are also working on getting EBT (similar to a bank ATM or debit card issued to receive and use food stamp and/or cash benefits) as a payment option,” he said.

Eating on campus can be expensive for budget-conscious students. Recently, students at Fullerton College offered four suggestions for providing a la carte bargains, as reported by FoodService Director.
