Panda Express has debuted a new utensil dubbed the “chork”—a curious mashup between chopsticks and a fork.
Talk of the tool broke on Wednesday via Twitter during a special press event for the restaurant chain’s latest dish, General Tso’s Chicken, and news spread of the potential addition to its tableware.
In photos circulating on social media, the chork appears to be made of red plastic with fork tines on one end and chopsticks on the other. Its packaging indicates that the chork can be pulled apart to serve as classic chopsticks or kept intact for benefits of both the fork and chopsticks.
Still, the Chinese chain told First We Feast that it’s not currently planning to roll out the item in stores, though that is a possibility. “The tool is a perfect way to illustrate the mashup of American and Chinese culture—just like Panda Express,” the chain said in a statement to the outlet. “Chorks are a unique utensil that elevate the way people experience their food.”
Whether or not the upgraded spork makes its way to Panda Express plates, it may inspire more renditions soon.
