Calif. governor proposes at least $70M in funding for school meals

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has included at least $70 million in funding for school meals as part of his 2020-21 budget proposal, The Government Center Gazette reports

If the proposal goes into effect, the state's school meal funding would see a 40% increase.

The additional funds would enable school districts to improve the quality of school meals, increase sustainability efforts and improve farm-to-school initiatives across the state.
