While students are enjoying the dog days of summer, school food staff are gearing up for an exciting return this fall! Each school will have their own unique experience this year, with a varying number of students eating in the cafeteria or on-the-go. Check out four ways to prepare for this back-to-school season.

Back to grab ‘n go

For students on-the-move or learning remote, schools will need plenty of grab ‘n go options for breakfast and lunch. General Mills has a robust lineup of 2 oz. equivalent grain cereal cups, single-serve yogurts and individually wrapped entrees. Or, get creative with a grab ‘n go meal inspiration guide from K-12 expert Chef Monica

Back to scratch

After a year off, scratch-made creations are primed for a comeback. Bulk yogurt with flavors like vanilla, strawberry and blueberry are a great foundation for parfaits and smoothies that can be customized with different fruits, cereals and more. Check out the Blenderless Smoothie recipe book or Parfait recipe book to add some tasty, low-prep treats to the mix!

Back to a la carte

An a la carte line can have the mid-day snacks students crave, all while checking the box for staff who need to meet regulations. General Mills offers peace of mind with Smart Snacks-compliant products. Plus, they’re no-prep solutions that are ready-to-serve right out of the box. Check out the whole lineup

Back to fun

There will be lots to celebrate this school year, too! Download a K-12 calendar filled with ideas for food holidays and festive recipes. One date to circle is World School Milk Day (September 29th) an annual celebration of dairy in the cafeteria, featuring student-favorite cereal milk.
