4. Make the right adjustments
Interns not only talked up their positive experience in the field with classmates back on campus, but also brought fresh perspective to the ProHealth team. Moving forward, Sparrow and Bergman want to expand the program, incorporate more face time with departments such as HR and security and adjust the curriculum to allow for surprises. “You never know what you’re going to walk into,” Bergman says. “You have to change gears immediately, and you can’t put [the interns] off to the side because something else needs your direct attention. You need to be flexible and encourage them to be flexible as well.”
