Urban School Food Alliance replaces Eric Goldstein as chairman

The Urban School Food Alliance has named Michael Rosenberger its new chairman of the board.

The announcement comes shortly after former chairman Eric Goldstein was let go from his position with New York City Public Schools due to incidents during the start of the school year involving school buses that were either late to pick up students or didn’t show up at all. It was also reported that some bus drivers didn’t receive full background checks and had criminal convictions. Goldstein served as the head of school support services as well as the executive director for school food services.

Upon hearing of Goldstein’s dismissal from NYC Public Schools last Friday, the Alliance issued a statement saying that his “position as chairman [would] be reviewed by the Alliance board members this week.”

Rosenberger currently serves as the executive director of food and child nutrition services for Dallas Independent School District (DISD). Prior to DISD, he was director of food and nutrition services for Irving Independent School District in Irving, Texas, where he helped the district become the first in the state to earn the designations of USDA Silver School and USDA Gold School.
