A dining hall at New York University is temporarily switching to a vegan menu in honor of Earth Week, Washington Square News reports.
From April 23-26, Lipton Dining Hall on the university's campus will not offer dishes containing animal products. The idea for the program was brought to dining services by a student animal-rights group. Dining staff worked with the student group and the National Humane Society to design the test.
The university will use the three-day trial run to test out how a plant-based dining hall would work on campus. Students in the group also hope that the program will bring more awareness to vegan diets. Based on surveys conducted by the group, most NYU students reacted positively to the idea of implementing a vegan dining hall.
