University gets rid of Meatless Mondays

Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif., is ending Meatless Mondays on campus, school newspaper The Lumberjack reports.

Instead, the dining hall will offer a pollo-pescatarian menu on Mondays, with additional vegetarian and vegan options throughout the week.

The change comes from the residence hall association, which unanimously voted to add white meat, including chicken and turkey, back into the Monday menu.

Students, especially those who are lactose intolerant, complained about the dairy-heavy items offered on meatless Mondays, the school’s director of dining services said, adding that dining hall traffic dropped by 15% on Mondays.
