Univ. dietitian gives students tools to make better food choices

Mindy Diller, Texas Tech University’s registered dietitian, has started a new program on campus to help students better identify healthier foods, reports Dailytoreader.com.

The Smart Choices program includes nutrition labels for grab-and-go foods under 400 calories, and a website with fitness planners and information for students who have food allergies or follow special diets. The program’s outlet in the student union also offers baked potatoes, wraps and salads.

In conjunction with the program, Diller offers nutritional counseling to students and works with the chefs on campus to make sure campus meals accommodate everyone as well, according to Dailytoreader.com.
