Senior nutrition sites may close due to state budget cuts

Several senior nutrition centers may close due to state budget cuts in Oklahoma.

The Association of South Central Oklahoma Governments (ASCOG) Area Agency on Aging—an aging services planning organization—recently held a public meeting to discuss how the association will distribute over $2 million annually in federal, state and local funds for aging services across eight counties, The Lawton Constitution reports.

Ken Jones, director of the Area Agency on Aging, presented a plan where facilities could be closed due to budget constraints, including nine of 28 nutrition sites that served fewer than 25 meals daily in the fiscal year ended June 2015.
