In sustainability move, UConn switching to smaller plastic cups

In a bid to reduce liquid waste on campus, the University of Connecticut’s dining department is switching from 16-ounce plastic cups to 12-ounce versions, The Daily Campus reports.

The changeover, which is now taking place at three dining halls, will be complete across campus in about a year and a half, after the current supply of 16-ounce cups runs out, Executive Director of Dining Services C. Dennis Pierce told The Daily Campus.

“For us, it’s just another step toward being more sustainable,” he said, noting that the switch also has financial benefits.
