School nutrition professionals in Clovis Unified School District are making lunches more appealing to students by watching food trends and gathering student input, The Fresno Bee has learned.
Officials say the Clovis, Calif., district has conducted numerous taste tests for potential menu items that eventually became permanent after getting student feedback, including chicken Alfredo, salmon with wild rice and most recently baby back ribs with a spicy Korean gochujang glaze.
Foodservice staff are also working on their own version of the Vietnamese banh mi sandwich, and a Chinese chicken salad might roll out next month as well, according to the website.
