High school diversifies menu with rotisserie chicken

The new rotisserie chicken option at Orestimba High School in Newman, Calif., has become popular among students, West Side Connect reports.

The rotisserie was introduced this year as part of the cafeteria’s renovation. Orestimba High’s foodservice provider, Sodexo, says the school sells an average of 110 rotisserie chicken meals to students daily.

Stretching the protein, the school also uses the rotisserie meat in chicken street tacos that are served once a week from the school’s food truck. Any unsold chicken gets shredded and used in other recipes.

Orestimba has recently begun to supply the shredded chicken to some other cafeterias in the district, and hopes to continue to increase the number of cafeterias served.
