‘Food pipeline’ to connect NC produce farmers to local colleges

Several North Carolina organizations are planning to establish a farm-to-university pipeline that would connect local farmers with schools, reports fayobserver.com.

The organizers will meet today, April 20, to discuss plans for the proposed food hub that would connect farmers who would provide produce to schools and universities in the Southeastern area, including Fayetteville State University and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

The plan is to eventually add hospitals, jails and prisons and childcare centers, as well as other businesses, according to the website.
