Elementary school brings gluten-free options on board

In an effort to provide meal options for students who have celiac disease or are gluten-sensitive, Massachusetts-based Deerfield Elementary School now offers alternatives upon request, reports The Republic.

Officials say parents can email the foodservice department in advance to have one of  four alternative meals—including garden salads and ham, turkey or grilled cheese sandwiches—modified to meet students’ dietary restrictions.

Cafeteria Director Charles Cornish told the website he hopes also make the school’s Pasta Wednesdays gluten free.
