Duke eliminates disposable plastic from campus eateries

Duke University’s foodservice program is banning disposable plastic, Duke Chronicle reports. 

Items such as plastic straws, bags and utensils will not be available in 34 eateries on the Durham, N.C., campus starting this July. Instead, Duke Dining will offer eco-friendly alternatives such as paper bags, as well as straws, drinkware and utensils made from a biodegradable plant-based alternative. 

The school’s dining program had previously banned bleached paper and foam products.
