Dartmouth College students found nonprofit to stop campus food waste

Some Dartmouth College students are doing their part to make sure no food goes to waste.

A group of friends founded a nonprofit called Dartmouth Feeding Neighbors last year after discovering that many campus dining halls close each day with leftovers that would otherwise be thrown away.

The group collects about 150 pounds of food three times a week and delivers it to the Upper Valley Haven shelter.

"Hanover seems to be a very wealthy area, and it really is, but you can drive 5 minutes outside of Hanover and find people who are struggling to make it by," Adam Charnin-Aker said.
