Creative marketing encourages picky eaters to try new foods

When it comes to encouraging picky students to try new foods, creative marketing has proven a successful tactic, says one school nutrition professional in New York.

By using marketing efforts such as taste tests, Donna Riviello, food service director at Clyde-Savannah Central School District in Clyde, N.Y., has gotten her students to eat legumes and sweet potatoes, reports syracuse.com.

Riviello and her staff also have gotten students to eat kale chips by making signs featuring Popeye and the slogan, “What doesn’t kale you makes you stronger.”
