College ends 13-month drought without foodservice vendor

For the past year, food trucks have been serving Honolulu Community College’s campus as officials struggled to find a new foodservice provider, reports Hawaii News Now.

Although a new vendor will re-start the campus’ foodservice Nov. 1, Erika Lacro—chancellor at HCC—said the service had been vacant since September 2014 because the school wanted to make its foodservice available all day for students with evening and weekend classes.

"We have required our vendor to provide service for breakfast, lunch, dinner and on Saturdays for our apprenticeship students. It is a big commitment and we just had not found anyone interested in taking on that responsibility," Lacro said.
