Cafeteria boycott in Pa. district may be ending
Oct. 19—School lunch is bouncing back after a school lunch strike in the Plum (Pa.) School District dramatically reduced the number of lunches sold districtwide during the month of September.
The strike was a reaction to the implementation of the new school meal regulations. Food service Director Maryann Lazzaro said the district sold an average of 602 fewer lunches per day last month compared to September 2011. However, Lazzaro said the food service department is starting to rebound. During the first nine days of October, the department has recouped about 307 lunches per day.
