Bowling Green forgoes summer meal plan option

Construction of new facility led to decision.

May 16—University Dining Services at Bowling Green State, in Ohio, will not be offering a summer meal plan. The decision was due in part to the closing of the Falcon’s Nest because of construction in the Union, said Adam Koons, marketing assistant for University Dining Services.

“We didn’t want students to buy [a meal plan] and find we didn’t have much open,” Koons said.
In previous years, a meal plan was offered during the summer and some options were open in the Falcon’s Nest, such as BG Sub and 2.Mato 2.Nite, Koons said.

This summer, Starbucks, The Peregrine Shop and Dunkin’ Donuts will be available during certain hours to students, as well as a hot dog cart during lunch, which will be outside of the Union. The cart, called “Mess Haul,” began serving lunch Monday and will be out during the summer and into the fall from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. as long as the weather allows, Koons said.

Sodexo has appointed Cathy Desquesses as its chief people officer, the company announced on Friday.

Before joining Sodexo, Desquesses held multiple leadership roles in the human resources department at General Electric, where she worked for 20 years. Most recently, she was the global HR leader for GE Power Gas.

Desquesses will begin her new role on July 1 and will report to Sodexo CEO Denis Machuel. She will replace Juan Pablo Urruticoechea, who is moving into a new position at Sodexo.
