Another school district finds lead in its drinking water

Since Flint, Michigan’s water crisis came to light, more news reports show that other districts across the country have found higher than acceptable lead levels in their students’ drinking water.

Recently, East Irondequoit Central School District announced that 800 sources for drinking water were tested throughout the district, and found 65 (or 8 percent) of them had high levels of lead, reports the Democrat and Chronicle.

Since testing positive, the New York-based district has shut off the affected water supplies and teamed up with the Monroe County Health Department to replace them. EICSD will also continue testing its water regularly.
