Analysis: Ohio colleges’ meal plan costs rising faster than tuition

In the past decade, the cost of meal plans at six Ohio colleges have increased at a faster rate than tuition and fees, according to an analysis by the Dayton Daily News. 

Key findings of the report, which looked at 10 colleges in the state, revealed that between 2004 and 2014, meal plan charges at Wright State University, Wittenberg University, Miami University and three other institutions grew more quickly than tuition.

At Miami, specifically, the average student paid $5,650 for a meal plan during the 2014-15 school year, increasing more than 60 percent in the last decade, according to the Daily News.
