I set up kitchen tours once a week with my residents. I tour the residents through the kitchen and then set up a table so they can watch staff work for about 15 minutes while they drink their coffee. You should see the smiles on their faces when they are done. They get a different perspective on how things work in the kitchen and respect the work that the culinary staff does every day. I also set up a chef’s table in the kitchen every two weeks. I will bring in six residents to watch the last half hour of work before service, and when the more than 250 meals leave the kitchen we sit down to a family-style lunch.
