1. Twitter polls
One way to grab feedback in real time is by letting diners respond within a platform as they’re scrolling through. At Penn State University in State College, Pa., the dining team turns to Twitter polls to reveal students’ favorite dishes or to gauge interest in new menu items.
Residential Dining Coordinator Jim Meinecke recently turned to Twitter polls to see if students were interested in acai bowls on campus—or if they were even familiar with the dish. Sixty-five percent of respondents were interested in seeing the superfood dish on the menu, and Meinecke plans to experiment with the bowls in one unit and possibly expand them throughout the next few semesters.
