Compass named a top company for innovation

Compass was named one of the most innovative companies across the globe, joining Apple, Starbucks and others in a list put out this week by Fast Company.

Lauded for “strategic” acquisitions and efforts to slash waste and boost sustainability, the foodservice vendor was crowned No. 34 out of Fast Company's 50 most innovative companies and No. 1 in its food category. The roundup also gave a nod to Compass’ work with the Global Animal Partnership and moves to increase its number of vegetarian-friendly menu items.

Compass has seen a number of changes in recent years as it sought to streamline operations, boost local sourcing and partner with big-name chefs. Its longtime CEO, Richard Cousins, died in a plane crash less than two months ago and was succeeded by COO Dominic Blakemore.

Other foodservice operations mentioned in Fast Company’s list include restaurant concepts Cava, &pizza, Punch Bowl Social and Amy’s Kitchen.
