At a press conference this week, protestors asked Houston’s Ben Taub and Texas Children’s hospitals to remove McDonald’s from their facilities, citing fast food’s role in the development of Type 2 diabetes, radio station KPRC reports.

Fewer than 20 U.S. hospitals have a McDonald’s on site, the activists said, noting that eight hospital systems have severed ties with the Golden Arches, including Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis and the Cleveland Clinic.

“On a daily basis, families are presented with many options—both at the hospital and off campus,” Texas Children’s Hospital said in a statement provided to the station. “We offer a variety of healthy meals and snacks. We believe it is important for children to learn that all types of foods can fit into a healthy diet when eaten in moderation.”
