In an early celebration of Valentine’s Day, Cura Hospitality provided a sweet experience for healthcare workers at Holy Redeemer Hospital’s Meadowbrook campus.

Cura’s foodservice team turned the Pennsylvania hospital’s cafe into an all-day themed party on Friday, Feb. 12. It started with breakfast featuring a “Don’t Go Bacon My Heart” special: three heart-shaped pancakes with bacon and coffee. The lunch menu offered more Valentine-inspired fare, including a Marry Me Chicken dish plated with a heart-shaped shrimp kabob.

John Martinelli, Cura director of retail and catering, also brought back a popular chocolate action station that was a hit on National Chocolate Day back in October. On offer were handmade chocolate-covered strawberries, cheesecakes with assorted toppings and a triple chocolate truffle cake.

The cafe was decorated with Valentine’s Day decor and the foodservice team dressed in holiday colors.

“This is part of our monotony breakers in the cafe,” says Martinelli. “Our medical staff need a place for respite, to unwind and just enjoy some time away from their responsibilities. It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’ for all their hard work.”
