More than 100 leaders throughout the food system have launched reWorking Luncha cross-sector initiative aimed at improving school meals for students throughout the country

ReWorking Lunch is led by FoodCorps and Bain Capital Double Impact, with facilitation support from Forum for the Future. Anchor partners and advisers include Boston Public Schools, Minneapolis Public Schools, Fairfax Public Schools, SweetgreenCampbell Soup Co., Arabella Advisors, the Rachael Ray Foundation, Revolution Foods, Share Our Strength, the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, the Walmart Foundation and The Urban School Food Alliance.

The initiative is being kicked off with a two-day summit where leaders from school nutrition, the food industry, philanthropy, the nonprofit sector and the government will attend strategy workshops and discuss ways they can increase school districts’ access to fresh, healthy and sustainable food for students.

After the summit, participants will form working groups aimed at putting what was discussed at the summit into action through pilots at partner schools across the country. The groups will meet a year later to discuss what worked and what adjustments to make based on information from the pilots as well as what the next steps are to continue to improve the school food system.
