Idaho Potato HappyHour Recipe Contest

What: Put your own signature on an appetizer, side dish or snack that features russet varieties such as the Russet Burbank, Purple Peruvian, or Norkotah Russet.

Win: More than $35,000 in prizes, and the grand prize winner will receive an Alto-Shaam Combitherm Oven worth $15,000. The first 100 entries win a Swiss Army Watch.

A.1. SELLebration of Steak

What: Part of a program from Kraft Foodservice to help operators create, menu, sell and serve high-margin steaks, enter the contest once you have used program materials to execute a steak promotion. Images (photos or video) can be submitted.

Win: One of two countertop gas char-broilers worth $5,000 each.

When: Elements of the program are available throughout 2008, and entries will be accepted through October 31, 2008.

Grant from Hobart Center for Foodservice Sustainability

What: Once again, Hobart is awarding a grant to emphasize energy/water use reduction, waste reduction and use of farm-to-fork programs.

Win: A $5,000 grant award

When: Hurry! All submissions must be received by August 29, and the grant will be awarded at the 2008 Greenbuild Expo in Boston, MA, November 19-21, 2008.
