The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and American Culinary Institute, Inc. (ACI) have settled the lawsuit the CIA filed in February, alleging trademark infringement and unfair competition arising out of ACI's use of the CIA's name and trademark in connection with judging food and food-related products. Pursuant to the settlement, ACI will change its corporate name and the name that appears within its gold medal trademark and abandon any pending trademark applications and domain names which include the name "American Culinary Institute."

Nadeem Siddiqui has resigned his position as director of dining services at Stanford University and will relocate to Madison, WI. He has been succeeded by Associate Director Rafi Taherian.

Marilyn Hurt, director of nutrition services for the La Crosse (WI) School district, is retiring at the end of the month. Hurt, a longtime prominent member of the national school foodservice community, is a past president of the American School Food Service Association (ASFSA) and an IFMA Silver Plate award recipient.

Guckenheimer has been awarded a 2003 Supplier Excellence Award by Texas Instruments, for which it provides onsite dining management services.

Delaware North has named Rick Abramson president of its SportService unit and Nick Biello president of its CA One airport concessions unit.

Aramark has acquired a 90-percent stake in Bright China Services Industries, a Chinese facility management company based in Beijing that serves the healthcare and B&I segments in the country.
