Danny Meyer opens restaurant on hospital roof

Danny Meyer plants new venture GreenRiver on the roof of a medical building.

With real estate tough to come by in Chicago, restaurants and bars are popping up in some nontraditional places. One of the newest is restaurant sensei Danny Meyer’s GreenRiver, perched on the rooftop of Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s outpatient pavilion. To partake in the food, cocktails and expansive view of Lake Michigan, guests mingle with doctors, nurses and patients as they enter the building’s lobby and ride the elevators to the top floor.
