When the federal sequester cost Lutheran Social Services to lose funding, we were afraid we were going to lose seniors who would normally come to our site for lunch.

Schools say their costs for fresh fruits and vegetables have increased the most in the past two years (76% and 79%, respectively). Only 22% of schools indicated that their beef costs have increased, while the remainder of the non-commercial market chose beef (70%) as the product registering their highest cost increase.

The Hinsdale High School District 86 Board will consider participating in the National School Lunch Program to get reimbursed for the free lunches the district provides some students.
