Washington college adding vendors to culinary arts-driven cafeteria

Woodruff Dining Hall at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), in Atlanta, underwent a culinary renovation this fall. Dining at the hall, known affectionately as Woody’s, is now restaurant style with menus crafted around the availability of local products.

The hospital will have the kitchen open to feed patients and offer a few carry out items for employees, but will have no dining for the public.

With a very low percentage of students who qualify for free or reduced priced meals, 18%, Schuster, the district’s dining services director, knew he needed to make some changes to get students to remain on campus and participate in the district’s foodservice program.

With the new Mountain View Bistro, chefs will prepare dishes that include local fruits and vegetables, for specialties like made-to-order pizzas, chicken and roasted veggie tacos, and grilled salmon.
