Most rewarding moment so far:

Since my time at University of Iowa, I have taken over a catering department, significantly increased sales, revamped our service model and increased customer satisfaction and the overall perception and culture of catering on campus, in addition to opening the food operation in the state-of-the-art Hancher Auditorium and opening Catlett Market Place.

An important lesson learned:

From being responsible for an event that did not go as planned, I learned that you can never overplan or overcommunicate. The follow-up from an event gone bad can be just as important as the event itself.

One thing you’d change about foodservice:

A greater overall respect for the industry. It takes a lot of work, grit, knowledge and dedication to have a career in hospitality.

Best career advice you’ve been given:

Dress the part and be confident.
